Location: Lewisham, London

Closing date: 20th July 2025

Description

We’re looking for a committed, knowledgeable and child-centred leader who is passionate about improving practice and outcomes for children.

Lewisham is proud to be the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary and a wave 2 Pathfinder authority, leading on national reforms through the Families First for Children programme. Our borough is vibrant, diverse, and ambitious for every child.

The role

This is an exciting new specialist practice leadership role at the heart of our commitment to improving outcomes for children subject to care proceedings or pre-proceedings. As the Case Progression Advanced Practitioner, you will work across teams to ensure that legal decision-making is timely, evidence-based and child-focused, supporting frontline practitioners and managers to deliver high-quality court and PLO (Public Law Outline) work. You will report to the Permanency Team Manager and play a key role in driving up practice standards, shaping system change, and contributing to local and pan-London improvement efforts.

Enhanced DBS check required.

You will have:

  • Extensive frontline experience, including court and PLO work and supporting complex case management.
  • A social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
  • A deep understanding of Working Together 2023, the Pan-London Child Protection Procedures, and the Care Planning Regulations.
  • A track record in practice improvement, quality assurance or service development.
  • Strong analytical skills, including using data and audit findings to drive change.
  • Confidence in using the Signs of Safety framework in both practice and coaching roles.

You’ll be reflective, emotionally intelligent and an excellent communicator – able to build trust, give honest feedback, and model excellence in child-focused practice.
