We have adopted a flexible, hybrid working approach

If you are passionate about delivering excellence in HR for the organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

The role
Human Resources in Lewisham Council is going through an exciting period of transformation and we are now looking to fill two HR Adviser roles to work within our new HR business teams.

Working within a centralised HR function, under the direction of an HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive, effective and value-added professional HR service to our customers.

You will:

  • Provide specialist, professional HR advice across all Council directorates in terms of employment legislation and on the Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Lead on specific service plan and work programmed areas and projects as allocated; working collaboratively across the HR community to deliver common service plan objectives.
  • Support and maintain the improvement of the quality of people management across the directorates; ensuring managers know how to access HR services and support in a timely way and equipped for the self-management aspects of their roles.

Location
Whilst the service is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, we operate a hybrid approach whereby you may be required to work both in the office and from home or another location within the Borough as determined by service requirements.

What we’re looking for
An experienced, highly skilled and competent HR professional to join a team who will provide comprehensive business transformation advice and support to a range of managers, who aim to deliver outstanding value for money and services to our residents.

This will include guidance for high level complex cases including to tribunal level, staff re-organisations and TUPE transfers.

You’ll need to have:

  • Excellent coaching and communication skills
  • A sound working knowledge of current employment law, ability to apply best practice and interpreting complex conditions of service
  • Experience of implementing pragmatic solutions-based approaches with managers, staff and TU colleagues.
  • Successfully delivering and balancing priorities in a fast-changing and demanding organisational environment

In return, we’ll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that includes a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.
