description

We have adopted a flexible, hybrid working approach

Come and join our HR team in an exciting new Business Partner role.

The role
Reporting to a Strategic HR Business Partner, you will work with services to help them deliver their business strategies and organisational objectives.  You will lead a small team of HR Advisers supporting directorates on complex employee relations issues and organisational change.

In particular, you will:

  • Provide a comprehensive, value-added, high quality expert and professional HR service on all aspects of human resources. The role will provide expert advice on employment legislation and on Council policies and procedures to minimise risk and reputational damage to the Council.
  • Work in collaboration with the Directorate Leadership teams and their Strategic HR Business Partner, ensuring the alignment of HR and business strategy from a people perspective. This will include supporting workforce planning across the directorates
  • Lead and direct high quality HR advisory services for complex employee relations issues, including organisational change (i.e. restructuring and TUPE).
  • Manage all day to day operational aspects of all employee relation matters: working across the HR function and wider organisation to ensure the delivery of a customer focused and professional service.
  • As a member of the extended HR Leadership team, contribute to the overall leadership and management of the HR function: proactively contributing to the development of HR strategy and policy, using data, metrics and evidence to inform and drive decision making and change across the Council.

Location
Whilst the service is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, we operate a hybrid approach whereby you may be required to work both in the office and from home or another location as determined by service requirements.

What we’re looking for
We need an experienced HR professional who can demonstrate a passion for delivery to end-users.
You will have skills and knowledge that include:

  • Understanding the business challenges facing local authorities and how to deliver people management solutions
  • Sound knowledge of employee engagement, best practice and employee relations to deliver key outcomes that support the organisation’s priorities and objectives.
  • Leading and delivering people management initiatives and interventions
  • Managing and leading staff to deliver excellent HR services
  • A sound knowledge of employment law and experience of undertaking complex HR casework and supporting organisational change
  • Building effective relationships using your excellent communication skills

In return, we’ll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that includes a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.
